Oatmeal scotchies


Ingredients Directions
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or grated orange peel
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups quick or old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 2 cups (12-oz pkg) Nestle Toll House Butterscotch Flavored Morsels
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla in large mixer bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in oats and morsels. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in preheated 375 F oven for 7 to 8 minutes for chewy cookies or 9 to 10 minutes for crispy cookies. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 4 dozen cookies. Bar Cookie Variation: Prepare dough as above. Spread dough into greased 15x10-inch jelly-roll pan. Bake in preheated 375 F oven for 18 to 22 minutes or until very lightly browned. Cool completely in pan on rack. Makes 4 dozen.
